The New Man in Christ

These teaching on the words translated heart  occurred  over four weeks  Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the word heart in scripture. It is so big a subject that only giving it one week we would barely scratch the surface. There are twenty-one words that are translated heart in the Hebrew Scriptures alone and nine more in the Greek Scriptures. This is enough so you could write a book on the subject. Remember that we are in the middle of an illustration that started back in Ephesians 5:22 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. If you go back to Deuteronomy 5:16 you will see where this quote came from. 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; The word followers is the Greek word mimētēs. It is here we get our word mimic. We are to mimic God. I remember as a kid trying to act like my dad. Like most other kids I wanted to be just like him he was my hero and I admired him. He was in the Air Force so I had planned to join the military. We played army back yard then, and I was thrilled because I got to be just like my dad, God wants that same attitude from us. He wants us to want to be just like him.
